Three cricket formats and how betting differs across them

Knowing a little about the format before betting on cricket makes it easier to understand the markets. T20 is the fastest format — just 20 overs, where a single big shot or wicket can change the whole direction of a match. T20 is the most popular format for betting because odds shift every moment and live markets offer many options.

ODI, or One Day International, is a 50-over match — strategy changes at different stages of the innings, so markets around total runs or scores in specific overs tend to be more interesting. Test cricket is a five-day game — a draw is a possible result, so odds are split across three outcomes and the betting approach is somewhat different.

For Bangladeshi fans, BPL is the closest competition. IPL and the T20 World Cup also draw huge interest each season. 09 det also offers detailed markets for international series organised by the ICC. For many people this is their preferred platform when betting on Bangladesh Tigers matches.

09 det Cricket Format and Market Breakdown

5 popular markets that attract the most bets

Cricket betting is not limited to match win or loss — there are many markets to choose from.

Match Winner

A bet on which team wins the match. The simplest and most popular market in T20 — if Team A wins the bet succeeds, if not the bet is lost.

T20ODITest

Toss

A bet on which team wins the toss before the match starts. The result is completely independent — it has no connection to the pitch or the weather.

Pre-Match

Top Batsman

A bet on which batter scores the most runs in an innings. A reliable opener is usually the most watched player in this market.

Innings

Total Runs Over/Under

This market is about deciding whether the total runs in an innings will be above (over) or below (under) a set number. For example, with a line of 165 runs, if Team A scores 172 the over wins.

T20ODI

Multi Bet

Multiple selections from different matches combined into one bet — you win only if all selections are correct; one wrong selection and the entire bet is lost. A detailed example is below.

Multi Bet

Powerplay Runs

This market is about the total runs scored in the first 6 overs — it is particularly active in T20. The pitch type and the batter's form are important factors here.

Odds are written in three ways — what does each mean?

Odds on betting sites appear in three formats — decimal, fractional and American. All three express the same thing, just written differently. Decimal format is the most familiar on 09 det, but knowing all three is useful on any platform.

Example 1 — the same odds in three formats (Team A to win)

Say Team A's odds to win are: Decimal 3.00 = Fractional 2/1 = American +200. A ৳500 bet that wins returns a total of ৳1,500 (৳1,000 profit + ৳500 original stake). If Team A loses, ৳500 is lost.

Example 2 — favourite's odds (Team B to win)

Team B is the favourite — odds: Decimal 1.25 = Fractional 1/4 = American -400 (American minus odds mean — how much you need to stake to profit ৳100). A ৳500 bet returns a total of ৳625 (৳125 profit).

In a multi bet, odds are multiplied. For example, three separate selections — 1.40, 1.60 and 1.70 — combined give odds of 1.40 × 1.60 × 1.70 = 3.81 (approximately). A ৳100 bet returns ৳381 if all selections are correct, but if even one is wrong the entire ৳100 is lost.

The betting interface on 09 det Bet shows decimal odds by default, but you can also choose your preferred format.

Format How it is written Meaning
Decimal 3.00 Total multiplier of the stake (profit + original stake)
Fractional 2/1 Profit : original stake ratio
American (+) +200 Profit on a ৳100 bet
American (−) −400 Stake needed to profit ৳100

It is a good idea to read the terms and conditions before you start betting. Betting is for entertainment — there is no guarantee of profit.

09 det Live In-Play Cricket Betting Screen

LIVE Live In-Play Betting — make your decision while the game is on

In-play betting is a very different experience from pre-match betting. Once the match starts, odds change on every ball — when a wicket falls the batting team's odds rise, and after a big six they drop.

Say Team A is chasing 180 and is 90/1 after 10 overs — their chances of winning are high, so the odds are low. But if two wickets fall in the next over, the odds rise quickly. That constant movement is what sets in-play betting apart.

Tip: In live betting, take time to read the flow of the match before deciding. Watching one over can give you a feel for the batter's form — betting after that keeps your view of the market clear.
Tip: Timing matters in in-play markets. Just before the powerplay ends or after a partnership builds, odds are often at their most interesting point.
Tip: Instead of spreading across many markets at once, focusing on one or two makes the experience more enjoyable.
09 det Football and Other Sports Betting

Football and other sports — how they differ from cricket

Football is the second most popular sport in Bangladesh after cricket. But the two are structured differently for betting. A T20 cricket match lasts only a few hours yet has far more detailed markets — each over, wicket and partnership creates its own market. A football match is 90 minutes with relatively fewer goals, so the market structure is simpler.

Football, like Test cricket, has three possible results — home win, away win or draw. This "1X2" market is the most familiar in football. T20 cricket generally has no draw, so the market is split into two sides.

Other sports available include kabaddi, badminton and tennis. The betting structure for each sport follows its own rules and rhythm — over- and wicket-based markets are unique to cricket.

Some practical advice before starting cricket betting

Set your budget first. Before each betting session, decide how much you are willing to spend. When you reach that limit, take a break — betting is for entertainment, not stress.
Build skill in one market. Instead of going into all markets at once, start by understanding one market well — such as match winner. Move to other markets as your experience grows.
Watch the match conditions. The pitch type, weather and each team's recent form help you understand the market — this comes from general cricket knowledge.
Keep the number of selections low in a multi bet. The more selections you add, the harder it is for all of them to be correct. Starting a multi bet with 2–3 selections is more realistic.
Be patient in live betting. In-play odds change fast — avoid rushing and make your decision after reading the match pattern.
Play responsibly. Read the responsible gaming guidelines — knowing your limits and taking breaks are the foundation of a healthy betting experience. 21+

Questions about cricket betting

Yes, there are quite a few differences. T20 has the most markets and is the most active for live betting — odds change every over. ODI markets are slightly less intense but offer more total runs and partnership markets. Test has three possible results (Team A wins, Team B wins, draw), so the odds structure is different. Understanding the format before you start betting makes it easier to choose your market.

In-play or live markets open once the match starts. Odds shift on every ball, wicket or big shot. You can place new bets while the match is going on — for example, how many runs in the next over, or how many the next batter will score. Bets are processed almost in real time, though some markets may be briefly suspended at certain moments (such as just before a delivery).

Yes, multi bets work in cricket as well. You can combine selections from several matches on the same day into a single bet. For example, if you back Team A, Team B and Team A to win in three separate matches and all three are correct, the odds multiply and your return increases. But if even one is wrong, the entire bet is lost. It is wise to keep the number of selections low in a multi bet.

The main markets — match winner, toss, total runs, top batsman — are available in both competitions. However IPL has more teams and more matches, so its markets are often more detailed. Because BPL is Bangladesh's own competition, local knowledge of the teams tends to be stronger, which can be useful when analysing markets.

If a match is abandoned due to rain, settlement depends on how much play took place and the platform's specific rules. Generally, if the match is abandoned before the minimum required overs are bowled, the bet is voided and the stake is returned. If a result is determined by the Duckworth-Lewis method, settlement is based on that result. Read the FAQ or ask the support team for the exact rules.
